The Los Angeles Times reported today that 52-year-old Long Beach man who caused the crash involving four cars and a private ambulance yesterday died after being taken to Encino-Tarzana Regional Medical Center. His name has not yet been released. According to Melissa Kelley, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Fire Department, stated that seven victims were taken to three different nearby hospitals. The extent of the collisions on the 405 Freeway at the 101 Freeway connector required all traffic lanes to be shutdown from 11:00a.m., the time of the accident, until after 2 p.m. Witnesses report that the 52-year-old man was driving at high speeds while weaving in and out of traffic lanes, then veered left across the traffic lanes where it hit the privately owned ambulance.
