John Ritter Trial

The family of the famous actor, John Ritter, continue in their lawsuit nearly four year after the death of their loved. John Ritter died at the age of 54 in the year 2003 due to misdiagnoses and mistreatment. After further investigations into the death, conclusions were made that Mr. Ritter died of an aortic dissection, a tear in the aorta, which was never detected by doctors. The family of Mr. Ritter filed a lawsuit against the hospital and various doctors claiming negligence and malpractice. Although the family settled for approximately 14 million against Providence St. Joseph Medical Center and other physicians, trial is moving forward against the radiologist, Matthew Lotysch and cardiologist, Joseph Lee for negligence. The lawsuit stems on claims that the enlarged aorta should have been spotted and a chest x-ray should have been ordered. Jury began deliberations this week in the Glendale courthouse. The family intends to use proceeds from the lawsuit to establish a foundation to educate the public about aortic dissection disease (As reported on abcnews.com and huffingtonpost.com).
